Question ECM Mapping or FuelPak???

Howdy! New to the forum.
Im installing a Rinehart 4" Slip-On (keeping stock 2-1 headers, for now atleast) and a Screamin Eagle Ventilator Kit on a '10 FLHX. A local shop said I wouldn't need anything more than the standard Harley mapping and that it would be "close enough" to a good setting. Also considering pulling out the baffle for local rides. Will that significantly change the fuel/air mix requirement from what the local shop wants to set the mapping to??? Thanks!

God Bless Our Troops and Vets!

I agree that with slip-ons and a Stage 1 Kit you will need a re-map (depending on the dealer $100 - $150) to optimixe your air/fuel mixture. That is, to not run too lean and ultimately discolor your new pipes, but why would you pull the baffles?

I wouldn't pay 150 bucks for the stage I download.

There's lot of debate over this, but it appears that the stage I download really doesn't make any adjustments to the air/fuel mixture. Read more here at the Nightrider website.

I love the FuelPak...it will give you the versatility to make changes based on other additions down the road. The guys at V&H are very helpful in customizing the map for your ride. I put V&H Monster Ovals and an Arlen Ness heavy breather on my '09 King, then got a FuelPak. The original map was nice, but I got a bit of decel popping. I called them up, they suggested a quick change in the setup...decel popping gone. My plugs have been great, no pipe discoloration either. I would definitely recommend the FuelPak.

Interesting article.
I wouldn't pay $150 either.

Until you decide to do more mods, Xied's from Nightrider are all you need. About a hundred bucks & you're done...

Thought about pulling the baffles because the sound is great for long rides, but sometimes I feel the need for a little more noise! Haven't tried it yet, but im guessing that will do the trick.
