The BOOM! AUDIO IPOD INTERFACE MODULE KIT has been on backorder for weeks now and the date just changed again to 6/10/11. I was hoping to have one in my hands and do the install before a June 8th trip. Looks like it's not going to happen. Probably fallout from the Japan earthquake I would guess.
IMHO it's not worth the money or the bother.

If you use the onscreen functions of the iphone/ipod touch ( such as maps or directions) you'll have to stop and get it out of the saddlebag.
The parts guy at your local HD store can go on his computer and use the "parts locator" to find a dealer/dealers who have it in stock. The parts guy prints the list out w/ dealer phone numbers and you call to make the purchase and arrange shipping if necessary.
Or send a PM to Dawg who can do this for you if he has the time; he's done it for many here.

Thank you for the tip Carl, I'll get the parts dept. manager to do that. He usually takes good care of me but he's been off work until tomorrow. I guess the other people working the parts counter are too...Well you know,

Nah, I just want the music source, screw what it costs, it's better than than the alternative of fumbling with CD's/DVD's, spotty FM channels, or nothing. Do I wish there was a cheaper or better solution, sure who wouldn't but there's not no that I know of.
I think you are making a fine choice. I am not sure why you didn't do it when you had the NIM installed, but it doesn't matter now. I just wanted to post and say that I have the same setup as you will have when you are done, the RT660, NIM, and the iPod interface, and I love it. It is a little pricey (no way to deny that) but I would do again, without hesitation, it is a great setup as far as I am concerned.
I hope you are able to locate one, which I am sure either with your parts guy or dawg you will be able to. Enjoy your trip.
