I recently bought an '09 with 30,000 miles, it's a great scooter and I am extremely happy with it. I am not going to say what I paid because someone will say I got a steal and someone will say I paid way too much. Do your homework, price bikes in your area and buy something you will be happy with. JMO.

I paid $7,840 for an 07 flhp in jan. It had 37,thousand plus miles on it. The seller was hurting. Just for reference if you'r not in a hurry. Shop around. Found it on E-bay. Bike runs great, uses no oil. I have probably put another grand into it just to make me feel good.

I just made the jump from Sportster to Road King. I agree with the previous poster, check out prices on Ebay to get a feel for what they're worth.
I also have a friend that had a bike repair(HD) shop. I told him about the RK and listed all the extras it had and the mileage. He told me it was worth around 12,000.
Guy was asking 8400, I got it for 8,000.
98 RK Classic with 11,000 miles.

Bought my 08 Classic, from a dealer, last May for 16K had 5227 miles on it. Think the price is a bit out of line for the 04

At this time of year, it's going to be difficult to get a killer deal. Everybody is riding... still, I think the price is a bit on the high side for a bike with that many miles. I bought my '09 in '10, it had 8000 miles and I paid well under 16k from an individual - not a dealer. Dealer prices will almost always be higher.

It is, on the other hand, a Road King which is the correct bike to buy.

That bike is worth exactly how much someone is willing to pay for it. No more and no less. If you are willing to pay 11k for it, then it is worth 11k. Can't go wrong with a Road King as any year is a great year for them. Lots of 04' and older daily riders out there that folks are happy with. As far a the guys that beat the repo truck to get these great deals, I just have to wonder if the guy could not pay for the bike what kind of attention he paid to the service needs of said machine. I would be worried about that way more than how many miles are on it.

Hey Everyone thanks for all the great feedback. In the little research I have done, I feel the price on the Bike is not a great price or a horrible price. But I dont feel comfortable jumping on it. I got my sportster for a price that I could sell right now pay it off and still have a few hundred left. That's what I am looking for when getting into another bike. I feel like I would have to get a better deal on a Road King for that to happen.

The mileage averages out to a little over 5700 of miles ridden per year. I put about 9000 - 10000 miles per year on my EG with no problems found. Just keep looking until you find one that just right for you. Good luck with your search.

Sorry, but if you are looking at the bike as an investment, you are better off taking your money and putting it into some mutual funds, or a cd or something. Hey, you hold onto one long enough and someone might just declare it a "classic" which everyone will have to have, then you might make a few bucks. Until you try to sell your sporty, you won't know if you will have a "few hundred left". I will never come close to even breaking even if I sold any of my bikes, which (good Lord willing I will never have to do), but when I have to quit riding, (God please forbid) my kids will have them and I will have some really great memories that no one can ever take from me. Mine are not an investment for the future, they are an investment in my quality of life.
