I ride all day long on back roads, not very long on Interstates. I also got my 2011 RKC because I love to ride without a windshield, but long highway trips are easier with the shield.
I bought my 2010 used and it didn't come with the windshield so I've never had a windshield on it, however I'm not a windshield fan (yet). Have done 350 miles (freeway) in a day, no problem!
Over 25 years ago I made a 125 mile round trip to work 5 days a week w/o a shield.
Had a Fatboy a few years back and anything out of town and over about 40 mph the shield was on. I'd say about 30 minutes without a shield for someone thats not used to it would be plenty enough to make ones neck hurt. Thats at highway speed.
I rode a 1970 (I think) Yamahahaha 750 triple to North Dakota when I was 18. Young and dumb, windshields were for sissys back then. Harleys were very rare in Nort central Wisconsin back then.
I ride w/o a shield but when planing a ride over 125 or so miles on the E-way I'll put it on. But I hate the look of a stock shield that's why I just ordered a LRS 19'' med tint.
Short trips around town or short back road trips of less than 40 miles..... Yeah, I'm an
old geezer and the shield is ON 95% of the time. Its an age thing...most anybody under 35 will not understand............................hdman

I think you are talking about the Triumph 750 Trident. Yamaha made a 650 in 1970. The 750 three cylinder came out in 76
Anyway, to answer the op's question, I started riding in 1967,but never had a windshield on a bike until an 02 Dyna.
9 hours. About kilt me; but then again I was pushing the underside of half century when I did it. No more! Anything more than 20 Minutes on the Hwy, shield is on. It's just not as fun to be to be beat up by the wind as it was 25 years ago. Older guys that still do it today at my age are tough. Tougher than I am.
