Default Street Glide Windshield heights

Morning everyone,

Just bought an '11 Street Glide that i am picking up next week. When I took one out for demo days, it had the 4" stock wind deflector. It seems to deflect a suprising amount of wind, except that it must be hitting me in the head, because I had horrible head shake. I am only 5'8" but all body no leg (29" inseam) so sitting on a bike, I have a taller persons profile. Now after all that preamble, I'm wondering if anyone has tried the 7" Harley deflector, and if it made any difference compared to the original 4"

I have an 8 inch Ultra from Long Ride Shields and I love it. I'm about 5'10'' and I can feel the wind move the hair on the top of my head and that is about it and I look over it not through it. I will buy another one. They have a clearance section, that is what I bought, it was cheaper and I can't see anything wrong with it. Trial and error seems to be the key with shields, everyone is different and you can get them about 2 to 1 for a Harley one

Give us a call at 775-331-3789 and we can help fit you over the phone so that you get the lowest possible shield and lowest possible price.

There are a couple of options as far as size shape and function. From what you described a 7 inch ultra would do the trick for sure, you might even get away with a 6 inch ultra or ultra flat top.

I would recommend the dark tint as it will best match your bike and you will still see over the shield.

If you are in to the cool looking windshield thing, you could try the new stealth shield.

We are still accepting testers for this new shield so it is a good way to try a shield risk free.

drop me a line or a pm

5'-7" here, the stock 4" sucked, 6" was alot better, 7" ended up in the middle of my vision and a tad better then 6". Ended up going with to a Longride shields Ultra Flip-Up 6" and its really nice now.

I think you will find that the wind that is disturbing you is coming from below not above the windshield. Fork air deflectors solved it for me.

I can only speak to what worked for me. I am 6' 1" and my 08 FLHX was equipped with the 7" HD deflector from the start, total waste. I put on the HD 10" Low windshield, again waste of money but with the added bonus of being ugly. I put on a 7" (flip recurve whatever they call them) Freedom Shield, voila! Good looks and very good wind deflection. They are a very nice outfit to deal with as well.

I have a 6.5" Klockwerks and the wife has a 8.5" on hers FLHX. We are both 5'9" and both windshields work great. In hind site I would go with the 8.5"

Alijos Rocks, about 400 miles due south of San Diego(7 day trip on the Excel), going back end of June, mostly school sized(50-90lb) this time of year. Hope to go December or Jan this winter to try the Buffer Zone, but that takes a 10 day or longer trip, for the 200+ lb tuna. I highly recommend the Excel to those out there wanting to go long range fishing out of San Diego.
