Well after looking at least one billizion posts I did what a lot of you guys recommended and did also; exhaust/air cleaner/fuel mangemnet system/dyno tune. I used V&H 2-1 Pro Pipes; PC111USB: SE stage one air cleaner kit[paper filter] ; and dynoed.
My results are; run conditions-82 dergress @28.8in-Hg --MaxHP= 71.83 and Max Torque = 74.32... Do these results sound about right for a 2004 RK -EFI-stock- 15,000 miles ---- Pre thanks for replys---
They sound right to me, as mine was even lower with a Stage 1 and PCIII. Some guys will claim higher numbers, but I understand there is as much as a 10% difference between dyno machines. So you may be comparing apples to oranges.
How does your A/F mixture look? That's another good indicator if it's been tuned well.
My tuner ( who is very honest )said if you get more out of stock then that, either they dyno's off or the tuner is giving you higher numbers just to make you feel good. I have almost the same set up and I'm real close to yours. Your fine. The last guy that tuned my bike told me I had 73 HP and 78 TQ and the bike was slower then it is now and ran and popped like ****. Alot of bull shiter's out there that say they now how to tune but can't even come close.

I will beg to differ with you on some of that. A guy that occasionally rides with our group has a 2003 ultra that, according to the local dyno tuner, made the best numbers of any stage 1, 88" that he has ever done. 77hp and 86 tq. My bike, stage 1 at the time, tuned by the same guy, did like 74 hp and 80 tq. His bike was NOTICEABLY faster than mine. Granted, his bike was for sure, the exception to the rule. But, it can be done. Fact is, EVERY bike is different. Only a custom map, by an experienced tuner will show it's full potential....
Wnogood is right. You will get variances based on equipment used and individual bikes. I was more than happy about my stage one setup and the power my bike produced.
Doherty air cleaner, Bassani Power Curve headers, Hooker mufflers and SE race tuner
When I got it all together, I downloaded the standard stage one map for my bike and rode it to American Twin in Fayetteville, GA. The tuner, John, is one of the best; even the H-D mechanics take their bikes to him. He spent about 2 hours working out the map with me watching over his shoulder and asking all sorts off questions. The final run was 71.25 HP and 86.57 torque. The A/F line hugged the 13.6 target all the way across.
He said the HP was a little above average for stage one, but not on the high end of all the bikes he does. The torque was another story though. He said he could not remember a better torque on any stage one TC88. The torque really kicks in between 2500 and 4500 rpm. I went out on the highway and was amazed how quickly and effortlessly she went from 75 to 95. Yep, I was real pleased.
Every bike is going to be different, even for very highly skilled tuners.
