Kind of a long story sorry...and thanks in advance for your help.
Bike is a 2000 FLHR 95" with a Mikuni carb. So this winter I had the dreaded cam chain tensioner explode and was repaired by local indy. While he had it he "adjusted" my carb for me. Since then the bike has been incredibly hard to keep running until it gets up to temp. After that it runs better than it ever has. So yesterday I went for a ride and stopped at waffle house. When I started my bike back it started right up and then died. Started the second time and after working the throttle for a minute it ran fine. So for the next 50 miles or so it ran great, only thing I noticed was an occasional slight smell of gas, not major, very slight and maybe 3 times during the 50 miles. Stopped at a Harley Shop for about 45 minutes came out and started the bike, she cranked right up and then died. Started right back up and I rode for maybe 200 yards and it died and would not start back. I didn't smell gas so I didn't think it was flooded. After about 30 minutes it started and ran like crap for about 30 seconds and died again. After another 45 minutes I got it started and it ran perfect the rest of the way home. Any ideas as to what is up, I have never had any problems like this before from it.
Had a problem like Yours on one of My carbed bikes. (Mikuni Carb) Found that the float was sticking, and flooding the bike. Clean it and see what happens. Float level may also be adjusted too high, allowing too much fuel into the engine. Hope this helps. Check Your plugs first, If they are black, Your engine is running to rich.

I agree, also catch the gas that comes out when you drain the float bowl and give a good look see...you may have crap/ water in your float bowl, there is small orafice where the fuel comes in the flat bowl with a needle valve in it, if it has crap in the valve you will have these symptoms....also I would be somewhat suspect of the cam timing..maybe your mech. got the timing off when he did you cam chain work
Mikuni's are great carbs but can be a little touchy when tuning / adjusting one
I recommend that you download the tuning guide from Mikuni & go from there
