Arrow Who Lost A Saddle Bag On 84?

Man, I read about it from time to time on these forums but yesterday I was heading out (east) of the tri-state area (Port Jervis, NY) on highway 84 and saw a saddle bag up against a jersey barrier on the side of the road. No Harley in sight.

That must really suck! Sure bumps from the nearby bridge helped, but I really hope that never happens to the rest of us. I do give my bags a good tug from time to time, especially after I've taken them off but I'm sure that is no guarantee.

Thought I'd throw that out there as a reminder to others.

Brukus 'saddlebag secure' should prevent this misfortune from happening.

That would really suck to lose one, especially if it were packed
and you were on a trip !!!

didn't loose a saddlebag on I-84 but almost lost left side Screaming Eagle slip on. bolts came out of rear mounting bracket, my brother in law was behind me and had me pull over, tied it up then bought 2 new bolts and secured in place. on another note replace rear saddlebag pins with bolts, fender washer, and lock nut.

That happens more often than you think. We hear about it all the time - and from veteran riders who check their bags. Those pins break and come loose, especially on bumpy and extended rides.

And SaddlebagSecure does prevent that. We have a customer who wrecked his bike and it tore off his right side bag - but the SaddlebagSecure held the back of the bag on! He sent pictures to prove it.

On our site you can read a few of the stories and also see a video of how easily the bikes are ripped off from the outside. We made the video of me doing it myself and I'm no thief! I first tried it with a screw driver. Took me about 30 seconds on one pin. Broke the pin and the clasp. Then I figured I'd try it with the long-nosed pliers. 6 seconds flat.

Those pins just aren't strong enough.

Remembering those who gave the ultimate sacrifice this Memorial Day. Freedom is not free.

I'm still trying to figure how you wouldn't notice a saddlebag missing. BTW, I have the Brukus seat secure, love it, maybe one day I'll do the bags.

I used to say the same thing, but now I know it happens often enough - so I've gotta believe you just don't feel it. Seems to be mainly during interstate riding. So must be something about the higher speeds.

How often does this happen to bags that have the saddlebag guards? Can they still fall out?

Another happy Brukus saddle/seat secure customer. Never worryabout bags coming loose - cheap fix for possible $pendy mishap.
