numb hand
I think KCFLHTC is on to something. Physical therapy more than likely would help. Probably not something we have to live with, but I'm not too fond of any kind of doctor and will put up with alot before seeing one. The older I get, the more I think I may have to start taking better care of myself.

I have been seeing doctors and specialists for 3 months and the only thing that helped and made sense to me was the PT. PT was my last stop before surgery and I definitely didn't want to go down that road. Hopefully I will continue to get better. I have a brand new Limited sitting in the garage that I cant even ride but thanks to the PT I think I will be back in the saddle very soon. Oh and by the way, those fancy Phiten Titanium necklaces that claim miracles that all the pro ball players wear, don't believe it. I have a $35 one you are welcome to have.
I recently shared a flight with a young physical therapist who told me 90% of his patients were those who had surgery that provided no relief from their ailment. I would absolutely try PT before surgery, even though many surgeons dont even suggest PT first.
All the above is good stuff.
I suffer from the same thing and without cruise simply could not ride.
IMHO it's more about posture and grip angle than any thing else.. so with that in mind, I have found that a backrest helps A LOT and different bars helped even more.
+2 sweepers from Khrome Werks on my '07 Ultra made the most significant difference of any other thing I have found.
The grip angle is sufficiently different that my wrists are no longer bound up and the slight elevation seems to help the circulation a bit. The price was right for the experiment..and it passed.
Other tips might include relaxing the spring tension on the throttle cables so you don't have to hold quite so hard or getting one of those cramp buster things to help rest the heel of your hand on. A good set of gloves will also suppress some of the vibration and make riding more comfy. You'll probably have to try several before you find the ones you like, but FWIW my personal favorites are short tactical style gloves similar to the Hatch SOG Shorty.

I often times just set the cruise and ride one handed, but you have to decide if that is safe enough for yourself.

Have had major numbness in LEFT hand after many long trips. Read on some forum somewhere about filling handlebars with lead shot. Since I am a shotgun shooter and reloader, I had some bags of shot on hand. Removed grips on my FLHTCI, tilted bars as far as I could, and using a small funnel and a small stick, filled the bars with shot. Sealed the shot in with bathtub caulk and re-installed the grips. It really smoothed out the vibration.
I had the same trouble years ago, and not just from riding. Then I woke up with a horrible pain in my neck one morning. Ended up being talked into going to a chiropractor. After x-rays, he showed me that my no4 disc was out. You could see it in the x-rays too. Just shoved out to the side of the others. He popped it back in, and finally after years and years of numbness in my fingertips and arm, it was gone. It will still pop out from time to time and I just go in and he fixes me right up. Never know, you may get lucky like me and it just be a simple chiropractor visit.

I've had the same problem...numbness in the right hand...for years, on 3 different bikes. I also get this when I'm on my elliptical machine. My left hand never gets numb...just my right one. The crazy thing about this is that, some days, I can ride all day and it never happens. Then, other days, it occurs constantly. I've looked at posture, grip angle, arm position...just about everything I can think of and I can't find anything to stop it. I've learned to rest my hand either on my lap or just hanging down for a while and it goes away. Cruise control really helps.
If you can find a solution to this, I would really like to know it...
