The default install of the parade fan blows the air from left to right. Which basically results in hot air blowing across your o2 sensors as well as into your intake. A real problem if you have lowers. Even more of a problem if you have a stage I kit and you kept your egg shaped intake cover as suggested by Harley. That cover with a default parade fan install only serves to catch hot air being heated by the engine.
What to do. I reverse the wiring on my parade fan. The air now blows from right to left. Cool air is drawn into the intake and cooler air runs across the O2 sensors.
The bike runs cooler since we no loner have a convection heated intake air loop of continual hotter air.
The oxygen sensors are not located between the cylinders anyway, at least on my bike. They are in the exhaust header just an inch or two from the cylinder.
There are three items between the cylinders on my bike. Two of which I believe are the fuel injectors and a third located on the left side of the front cylinder. I'm not sure exactly what that one does.
Blowing warm air towards the intake is how the fan is designed. Whether or not that has a negative affect on the temperature of the motor needs to be determined. I am also wondering if blowing air across the cylinders would be more effective for cooling than sucking air. At this point I would guess that it would be more effective blowing than sucking.

it's hard to conceptualize....blowing air from left to right blows hot air into your intake....blowing air from right to left...pulls in cool air across your intake. With egg cover even worse, since cover acts as a catch mit for hot air.

I was thinking more in terms of air flow dynamics. I am only guessing that blowing air in between the cylinders may be more effective (move more air in the desired manner) than pulling air. Someone would need to do some air flow measurements to see if the reversal of the fan direction actually pulls air all the way from the other side of the engine or if it pulls air from say close to the fan.
I have not looked at the design of this fan but I do know that some fans are much more efficient at moving air in one direction due to the design and shape of the blades. I do not know if that is true of this fan or not. If it was, the fan blade would need to be reversed in order to maintain the same airflow.
I know that warmer air going in the intake potentially reduces the performance of an engine when compared to cooler air or we wouldn't have all the cold air packages available for all types of vehicles. I do not know how much impact, if any, the warmer air would have on engine temperatures, especially at idle when the fan would be operating.
I have this fan on my bike and it seems to do a more than adequate job of keeping the engine from getting too to hot while stopped.
speakerfritz, it seems like a cold air intake is your prority, the reverse parade fan idea is just a way to open the discussion. You would need some type of shroud to make a puller work, probably could not make it attractive. The intake is situated tightly between the two heat generators, front and rear cylinder, so the entire intake tract, including the AC backing plate will need some type of thermal barrier coating to reflect radiating heat and the actual air inlet will have to be moved away from the hot engine. I would like to do this myself, but will it be worth it? Depends on how you define worth, I like to build stuff so it is entertaining for me, but this seems more like one of those mods to gain 1/100th of a second over the competition at the track. You could try header wrap just to test your idea, go for it.
Without the fan, the intake is pulling stagnent hot air coming of your engine. With the fan blowing cooler ari through the middle of the cylinders, at least the air will be some what cooler. Just recently, I hooked my computer up to my PC V to chck eng temp. Started the bike in the garage, left it run up to 264 degrees and then turned on the fan. Temp droped 22 degrees. Ill keep my fan working the way it was made.
I think you're trying to re-engineer something that's pretty basic. Morris9982 has stated it correctly. The fan will move far more air blowing on the cylinders than it will pulling the air across them. I have the Lenale fan (it claims to blow air at 130 mph) on my Ultra, and the bottom line is it does a fantastic job at keeping the heat down when I'm stuck in traffic, even if the air intake might be sucking in a bit more hot air. These things are only so efficient. The HD oil cooler & Lenale fan are the two best mods I have installed.
I lost the plastic fan blades from inside the housing on the fan, so I essentially have a big hunk of chrome now. I have no idea where to find a replacement.
If anyone had any idea where I can get a replacement fan (the blackplastic blades) it would be AWESOME! Thanks.
I'm not a fan of adding to old dead threads, abut I'll respond to the new question. Try an appliance repair store, or on line sources. Refrigerator equipment uses fans of all kinds.
