I didn't have the heim joint in a fully neutral position , what this means is the joint that connects the 2 mounting brackets , what you are suppose to do is loosen the lock nuts and turn it in one direction until it begins to feel hard , stop and then turn it in the other direction until it starts to feel hard , stop and then put it in the middle of these two points and tighten your lock nuts back down , the heim joint should feel loose on the bike , if you can reach under your bike and move the heim joint by your hand or put a wrench on it and move it fairly easy you are in a neutral position , the heim joint should not be binding and hard to move

Thanks in advance for your reply

I said in the last post that riders I trust had suggested True-Track and I had called and talked to them , described my situation and they had explained to me how it should help , I also stated I went ahead an ordered one , that they had a 30 day money back guarantee and I would post after install. Well I installed it yesterday and gave it a thorough test today. I hopped up on interstate and rode smooth sections of highway , grooved sections , sections under construction and so on. My initial test on a scale of 1-10 , with 10 being extremely happy I was probably a 7 , but would definitely keep it , the drifting or looseness was probably 70% eliminated and when I did feel it the bike still felt firmly planted on the ground , not the lite as it did before . I came home and called True Track and went over my install and initial testing , they told me to check the heim joint and make sure it was in a neutral position , I told them I had and how I had done it , I found out I had done it wrong so I re-adjusted the heim joint and went out and did more testing. It was much better and the drifting was probably now 90-95% eliminated and I am now a 9 as far as satisfaction , it works and helps, it is not a 100% cure but a major improvement and now when I feel a little loose it is not scary and I can just keep the throttle on, RIDE SAFE TJ
Thanks for taking the time to post this informative review. This is the kind of real world information I check into the forum for.

I like the looks of this one better. It is more like the original only better.

Glad it's working for you. Hopefully your info will help those that are experiencing a similar problem. The only time mine has felt loose is when my back tire was bald (slick) and I was running at pretty high speed through corners. That was with the stock tires and wheels. New tires and it stuck like glue until the back tire went bald again.

Touring Harleys have had rubber mounts since Adam started shaving. What that means is the rear wheel is mounted in the swingarm, the swingarm is mounted to the back of the transmission casing and the transmission and engine are mounted into the frame via rubber mountings. All that changed of any significance in 2009 is that the rubber mountings were changed to a different set-up. They are still rubber.

On every Buell and rubber mount Sportsters, the front and rear rubber mounts are supported by a stabilizer link. A third stabilizer at the heads provides the engine in those bikes with kinematically stable support, that enables the engine to vibrate up and down, as God intended, but also prevents it from moving laterally. Those bikes handle very well.

Pre-2009 rubber mount touring bikes have a front stabilizer link, just like those Buells and Sportsters, but no rear stabilizer. That is the source of the handling quirks that some of us suffer from. 2009-on models have no front or rear stabilizer. The 5-point mounting set-up is undeniably superior to the previous 4-point, but unsupported rubber still has 'give' in it.

True-Track introduced the 'missing link' and I have had one on my old dresser since before they started sponsoring HDF. It is the only way to go! Transforms the bike, as it also did for my Dyna.

As for the 2009 and up, there is no doubt in my mind those bikes will benefit from a True-Track kit, but just as for the older bikes, that is down to personal choice.
I think the link on the front head from 08 up helps alot, and on my 05 standard the true track helped (very little) but it still wobbled badly if pushed, this was on a bike with less then 2000 miles. I absolutely love my 10 ultra and it aint no sportbike but im very happy with the way it handles.

Well - crap. I thought that I would not need a true-trac on a 2011.

There are at least a dozen brands of products that make claims to improve dresser handling. The beauty of the True-Track is that it provides the same stabilizer support that Erik Buell intended and as fitted to Buells and Sportsters.

I'm not certain I agree! The old position between the heads gave better triangulation between the three mounting points. I am in the process of fitting a 6 gallon tank to my old Evo and resolving the head stabilizer is my final challenge! To get an extra gallon into a similarly shaped tank Harley moved the stabilizer and made the bottom of the new tank flatter. I don't think they had any other reason to move it.

hey guys not to bring back and old thread but any update on these?.. When pushed i definitely get the wobble at higher speeds, usually in sweepers..and slightly in a straight line. Are they worth the money for the 09+ ? Just trying to see if any more reviews came out?
thx
