Maybe once or twice a month when I start the bike cold it will take maybe 10 to 15 seconds for the CEL light to go off. Any suggestions on this with out taking it in to have the, if any, codes read. It's an ex police bike that I bought with 37,000 mile on it. It now has 41,000 miles on it. Just started this about 500 miles ago. Since it is an ex-cop bike I am assuming they did the 25,000 mile fuel filter change. I have done everything else, service wise, to include the SE compensator. Can a fuel filter cause intermittant CEL's only on start up? Thanks for any input on this. Mike

Got it.... "check engine light", takes me a minute! LOL!

 

For anyone that's interested, I finally got around to running the diagnostics on the bike and the cel that I was getting was a P0562 in the history. That is a low voltage code and was probably set when I disconnected the battery to install a new drive belt. Cleared the code and all is well again.

 

I must be slow too.
