ok , I get lost easy. With A Road King 2002, Do I need to remove forks or just drop them down? Do all the internal parts come out without removing the sliders???
Can not answer your question about pulling the forks out, but you should not have to drop the sliders in order replace the springs. The only reason I did was to swap out with chrome ones at the same time
You don't need to pull the sliders to do the swap. I did end up pulling the entire forks out, once you get everything apart its not a big deal anyways. I even ended up making a homebrew jig to hold the forks once i pulled them. Drill I think a 2" hole (measure to be sure) in a 2 x 4 make a cut bisecting this hole on ONE side only, put in a carriage bolt and tighten to hold, look mom no scratches! oh and I ended up having to run for again i think a 1 1/8" wrench OPEN END wrench to undo the fork cap as you don't have the clearance for a socket on an 07 road king
OK. Just went out for a ride and it rides great. Ride feels better. I also switched to heavy shock oil as well. In the end it's worth it. Now the wheels need to get here
Progressive says do not use heavy duty oil, 10w type E.
I want to know the chart in the directions for spacer length, is that for the full drop?

I called them today to ask this question on a 2005 flh. It came with a 1/2" space and he told that would be the full drop but it only dropped 1". I'm thinking no spacer would be a full drop and with the spacer is a 1" drop. I emailed them to ask one more time waiting on a response.

I have a few hundred miles on my forks with SE oil and it feels great. I used a slight amount less than called for (about 10.5) and it works for me. No spacer = 2" drop. I used about 3/4" spacer and it dropped 1"

If I don't use the. 75 spacer like in the chart for my year, there will be no preload on my springs,
