Default thinking about removing the cat

How much louder is a EC Ultra after removing the cat? I'm getting a PCV next week to help with the heat, I hear removing the cat will help too. I have rinehearts now and love the sound. I don't want to get much louder.

It will bump it up a little bit. I just removed my cat and have the Monster Ovals on. The before and after was slight not really a great difference. On a scale of 1-10. If you are at a 5 now, removing the cat would move you 1 maybe 2 on the scale.

Good analogy. Mufflers make more of a difference in the sound. I can't imagine riding my EG Ultra in the summer with the CAT still in place. My wife has even commented on how much cooler the bike is now that I did the complete stage 1. Her right leg/foot was getting baked. My right leg was getting cooked too. If you can spring for it, get Fuel Moto's 2/1/2 headpipe. That's what I did. Didn't get the ceramic coating though. Works great. Fits great. I still have my stock setup in a box just in case "the man" decides to start conducting emissions testing. Removing the CAT is a no-brainer. It is essential in my opinion, especially once the temps start getting in to the 80's. We rode about 600 miles in 95 plus temps all last week with no problem. The bike never skipped a beat. I can't imagine doing that with the CAT still in place. I also have a Power Commander. I ordered everything from FM. They are great to deal with.
