I have an 06 rg with the 103 screaming Eagle and idle when I 1st start It the pressure is up but after running it at little bit when u r at a stop sign is at 0 but 2nd you hit the throttle it is back off to normal is this a normal thing and has no oil pressure gauge so I don't now
For all who care to know....... Synthetic oil is not thinner than dino oil, viscosity is viscoity. The molecular particles of synthetic oil are smaller allowing it to get into places dino oil doesn't like to go. This is why some bikes show more evidence of oil seepage after changing to synthetic. It also allows the synthetic to move more freely through your motor and since the particles are smaller, there are more of them in the same volume allowing it to cushion parts a little better. Some motors seem to like the dino better and some like the synthetic better. I personallyprefer amsoil 25W60. It seems to run a little quiter in my 05 TC. They clatter anyway. I'm gonna different lifters and see if that helps. BTW, my hot engine oil pressure, at idle, runs from 18 to 21psig. and around 45 to 53psig. at 3000rpm hot.
I know this real old but u say its not thinner but has molecules thats smaller and creep . in smaller areas wouldnt that make it thinner all in all it is thinner when hot is all u said but in molecule way lol
Mine machine when running and hot the oil press. is about 50/55 psi and about 20/25 at idle. I have a special spring in the cam plate which is otherwise stock. Before the spring a bout 30 / 35 hot running and about 10 +/- hot idle.
Big vtwin is more about volume than pressure 10/32 is pretty normal. Beefing up the pressure relief spring isn’t necessarily doing you any favours . More pressure = less volume
