To all that have installed the baker high torque bearing kit in their primary, how is it holding up? How many miles do you have on the change? Also, what special tools were needed?
The reason that I am askiing this is my 07 electraglide classic with 30k on it developed a very bad grinding noise in the primary when warmed up. Everything that I have read so far points to thet IPB. I haven't tore into it yet and won't start it until this weekend. But I at least wanted to get a heads up on this replacement part from Baker. Oh, I forgot this, I do have the SE comp installed.
I used this in my 03 Road King. Got tired of the stock sleeve walking into the tranny. Had at least 60,000 miles on it without a problem when I traded it in.
As for sprcial tools you will need a puller for removing the stock sleeve bearing. Installing the Baker is very easy as it replaces the stock bearing in the clutch basket.
I put one in on my 05 when I did a 6 speed upgrade. Only problem I found was it's a real PITA to get the inner primary off if you need to. Had to make a jig because the fit was so tight.
