Yep same here, I probably would not have noticed until I read FDHOG's posting about it awhile ago

Don't you guys remember the open primary belt drives, hard to hear over the exhaust but there sure was some rattling going on when that dry clutch was engaged.

Me too - exactly the same symptoms @ 13,779 miles while on a trip — here is a paste from my WO:

Work Description: R & R MAINSHAFT BEARING

34091-08 RACE, INNER BEARING $14.00
9231 BEARING, ROLLER $11.55

There was, of course, gaskets, fluid, etc.

And in my case they replaced the tensioner - I would'a questioned the need and asked to see the tensioner but I wasn't paying, it was under warranty.

39929-06A CHAIN TENSIONER, PRIMARY $93.15

As I recall there has been quite a few with the same problem, likely due to inferior bearings, but wow the OP's at 500 miles is ridiculous. I just realized that I am approaching the same milage that my first one failed at.

Same with me, on 11 RK at 2300 miles.

I am glad that I am hard of hearing. I just ride them until they seize. Works for me.

What can you do if you keep getting told it is normal?

Hey Dawg! Here I am.
500 miles? I noticed mine sooner than that.
Dealer checked it out. Found nothing wrong "It's Normal"
Not being satisfied, I called the MOCO and talked to the tech dept. The "Official" word is Neutral Rollover, noise created by the gears slapping into each other while they are disengaged, causing no damage to the transmission. The MOCO logged my complaint, and gave me a case# just in case anything happens down the road. If more people start calling, maybe they'll do something about it. I switched to Amsoil Severe Gear, and the noise subsided a little.
I mostly learned to ignore it now.

Gears slapping into each other does not sound like a good thing........well glad I have 5 years of insurance in case this does become an issue down the line

I think I heard this on my 11 RKC the other day. It was very hot out and I was just cruising around town. Got to a red light, heard the noise and just assumed it was the EITMS kicking in since I'd never had it kick in before. Now I'm a little concerned.

Sounds like marbles in the transmission! Pull in the clutch and it goes away.
Dawg, I have the 5yr plan too. I developed the ride it till it breaks attitude. It's their problem for the next 4.5 years.
