Default No brakes on Road King

I recently replaced brakes on rear of 2004 Road King classic. Job went good, however I have very little braking. I did not bleed, I did have caliper off as I R & R wheel to replace tire. What did I do wrong. I was told not necessary to bleed. I was also told that it will take time to get brakes back to normal. I have a strong hard pedal???

If you disconnected the flex hose then you do need to bleed them. You didn't give a lot of info on exactly what you did.

It takes a bit to push the piston back out, work the pedal a bunch of times and see if that helps out. I know when I do my fronts, it takes a couple dozen squeezes to get it back in order.

If your pistons were even a little bit dirty they may be stuck in the bore. They may break loose but you will have scoring issues later on. Pull the whole caliper off and clean the bores, there is a very good write up on here. https://www.hdforums.com/forum/touri...ld-photos.html

Default Road king,,, no rear breaks.

OK, I hear you need more information. 2004 Roadking. I pulled axle on rear to replace tire. I replaced pads as well. On this model the caliper comes off with the axle. The pistons were moving in and out just fine. As a matter of fact I had excellent brakes, I just wanted to replace pads along with tire. I had zero problems with the job. I did not bleed brakes as I did not open any lines. I now have a hard pedal but no brakes. I removed pads again and see that pistons are working fine ?? A neighbor suggest that I may have damaged the caliper, but didn't explain how. I sure need some help. I will not take the bike into a Harley store. ,,,,,,,,Larry

Did you take the cover off the master cylinder when you compressed the pistons?
