SG Suspension Upgrade
OK. Been riding softails for quite a few years now. A few weeks ago I bought a 2009 SG with 5,000 miles. I wanted a bike that would be good for both myself and the wife to take trips on. I have always liked the looks of the SG as a touring bike. This bike came with a practically brand new set of the Progressive 440's on the rear.
Anyway, after the purchase, I put about 200 miles on the bike by myself and thought it was great. I felt like the wife would really love the ride as well. WRONG!!!! The two of us ventured out on an 80 mile ride. After about 10 miles on the shi&*y roads in LA, and the constant bit$%*ing in both my ears, I decided to turn around, go back home, and drop her off. Not good for the marital relations. Oh, and do not comment on getting a new wife. I have had this one for 24 years and I AINT'T going through that adjustment crap again. Besides, in LA, she gets half!!! I LOVE MY BIKES!!!!
Since then I have been looking into what suspension would be best for riding, not show because I already have two show bikes. I searched this forum and spoke with many other folks. I came to my decision yesterday and placed an order with Motorcyclemetal.com for a set of Ohlins #6's. These will raise the bike stance on the floor, but will sit slightly above stock stance when I am on the bike. Were talking a mere 1/8" to 1/4" taller versus stock. Howard spent alot of time with me on the phone explaining all the details (he covered from top to bottom). Howard is a great guy and went overboard with respect to customer service.
Once the shocks are installed, I will give everybody a complete review of every aspect.
