Default Question on what to expect after Supertuner install and dyno etc.....

Been waffling on different ways to get the bike to run a bit better and cooler.......right now I'm committed to keeping the stock head pipe but I've been thinking of adding a SE Supertuner, Supertrapp slip-ons and with a SE air filter or Ness big sucker and a dyno


I've seen some banter here and there that if you use a SE Supertuner that the dealership still has to play by the EPA rules and guidelines so the end result is still an overly lean running bike...

Am I mistaken in this or will the above scenario cool the bike down a bit and smooth it out a bit (lose some of the leanness) ?

Had the super tuner but took it off and went with the Revolution Performance wide band tuner......no dyno required, make changes and it adapts. Much happier!!

As to what to expect? Depends on how good your dyno guy is......good ones are hard to find......that's why I went with the Rev. Perf......and I like it!

Doing a stg 1 with the SEPST and a high flow AC will richen the bike up and run somewhat cooler. The big heat monster is the cat in the headpipe. My wife commented on the bike being much cooler riding on her first ride this spring and even in 85 degree heat. The difference is really removing the cat, along with the other changes. Can't say enough about the Fuel Moto headpipe, money well spent. I'll say it again, smoothest running bike I have ever owned.

Trying to keep the bike quiet (believe it or not) so cat is gonna stay for awhile. I guess if the tuner is good at what he does he should be able to smooth some of the lean conditions out or is he stuck playing by the EPA as I said above?

with the cat you need to be careful not to get too rich. A cat needs to switching back to near 14.7 or so to work and stay healthy ie you can not be in open loop all the time you need to be going back to closed loop so you don't run the risk of messing up the cat. You and me are two rare birds as we both want to keep the cat. I had great luck with the stage 1 download and am having great luck with the tts mastertune.

by federal law u or your tune cannot alter any emissions related items(including changing the afr) unless the bike will be soley used off road.so im guessing your dyno guy already knows your only using it on the track from now on.

I just got my back after the Stage I mod including a new headpipe. I can't believe the difference in temperature. Before it felt like a hot iron by my right leg. On the 20 mile ride home I felt absolutely no heat whatsoever. I went with the Fullsac headpipe, V&H monster ovals and the SE supertuner. Difference in torque was night and day. A little noisier but not obnoxious, more of a deep base sound than a bark.

Port Dawg, if you are set on getting a Tuner, you should consider Fuelmoto's Powervision. I rode with a guy from the Florida Crew up in Maggie valley. he's Gotmy11SG here on the forum. iclick knows him. He has a 2011 SG w/103 engine. He was running Fuelmoto's headpipe, Exhaust and The new Powervision Tuner. It's a nice setup! He showed me how you can play with it while riding. It sold me if I ever go with a Tuner.

I'm hoping that whoever does the tune has done them on newer bikes that have the cat heh



Ron I'm not 100% sure I'm going with the Supertuner

IMHO, I think with new Tuner's like PowerVision coming along, Dyno Tuning is not needed. I know I'll get bashed for this, But I've watched Bikes being Run on a Dyno. I would not put my bike through that!! JMO
