add gas..engine noise gone
I have been having a noise in my engine sorta like a lifter tick (but not quite) I had been thinking about doing some head work over the winter and the noise was pushing that thought along.(bike has 38K miles) last night I stopped at a shell station and put their vpower in (or whatever it's called) and took off. Within 2 miles I actually heard my noise getting quieter and quieter untill it quit. I used to buy gas at shell for the bike alot but had been buying it at the mom-pop (certified) station in town this year. I have always used their gas from time to time in my bikes but had not realized that was all I have been running in it for a while until now..all I have to say is WOW..the ride home from work tonight sounded like I was on a new bike. Yeah it still has a little noise but what harley doesn't, but not like it was before. anyone have engine noise that sounds like the lifter are getting bad might want to give this a try.

Your Mom-Pop station may not sell alot of #1 gas, It loses 1% per month of Octane. The Shell may be busier and replenishes the Premium on a regular basis. I don't think a different gas will cause lifter noise but it may effect the valves.
