Anyone else have problems with the stock Dunlop 200 tire on the Fatboy or Street Glide. I have had both bike and the rear tire starts to roar more so when turning. If you slide your hand around the tire the outside edge feels uneven almost like a dirt bike tire. I'm changing the rear tire on my street glide and would like some advice on tire selection. Thanks
I have the same problem on my 09 Streetglide rear and front. Had the Front swapped for a new one because of really bad cupping and the wrong way tread thing.
The dealer says it's because of wrong air pressure, told him to go get a pressure gauge and check it against mine. I check it often so I know that's not the problem. Dealer says he can't do anything,,,,, Not many miles left on them so I guess when it's time I'll be buying a different brand.
Yep my Dunlops on the Fatty are noisy now hut that I believe is because they are coming to the end of their life after 10,000 miles, starting to hit the tread bars on both front and back. I've had this happen on Michelins in the past too. Nothing to worry about.
With over 16K on my Dunlop OEM 408F/407 combination and maybe another 2K left, I think I will buy them again
Plus one, I still have the original D408F at 24k and expect to get 30K+. I replaced the rear at 15.2K but still had 4-5 32s left. My buddies with Metzeler ME880s are replacing every 8000 miles.
My 07 Fatboy made the roaring noise from the day I bought it. Dealer thought it was a bad bearing in the rear or a too tight belt. They could not fix the problem so I put on a set of VH big shots and never heard the tire again. My street glide is quiet and I like it like that so I want a quiet tire. Any suggestions?
Dunlops are out the window for me. Metzlers are the only way to go. Experienced all of the problems you guys have and have had enough. As long as I keepthe tire pressure up, itsall good.
Funny friend and I talked about this tonight! I am only starting to hear the roar when turning and rolled over on the sidewall. Mine has the ridges started in them also. I have about 10K miles, but the tread is in good shape, just the stair step edges now. Just had 20K service done on bike and mechanic commented then on how well the tires were wearing....He shouldn't have said anything I guess. This just started last 1K miles.....I replaced my tires/wheels at 10K with stock tires, and Streetglide wheels. So, 10K and lots of roar....I guess I'll see how they last and if this keeps getting worse.
Also, I keep check my pressure alot, I just got a new air compressor, so its still cool to me....
Replaced the rear tire this passed weekend. The bike rides much better and much quiter. I purchased the new tire from cycle gear and the salesman said he had been seeing a lot of this from stock Harley Dunlop tires.
