Default noisy transmition

just got a new electra glide classic limited with 103, is it normal for the gears to make a clackling noise when you shift?

Do you mean the sound like your gears are going to blow right through the tranny?
Yeah, that's normal. Usually only from neutral to 1st.

Change tranny oil to Red Line HD. Shifting will become more solid, neutral will be easier to find, but she will still clunk.

Picked up a new SG two weeks ago. From first time I shifted into first to leave the dealership when she about bucked out from underneath me, I told the service guy somethings wrong. My Dyna trans gives a whack when going into first from neutral, but it's "normal" and not eye popping bad. Service tech says "that's normal just run it". OK says I, it's got warranty.. Had some spare time today so went back to dealer, got lucky and the shop was quiet so the service tech (different fellow) got my bike right in.
Well 15 minutes later I'm being offered a ride home because the mechanic wants to pull it down because "something isn't right.." Well I told y'all that a few weeks ago!!
With any luck it's not a major and I can get back to riding it because the thing is the ****!!
Luckily I still have my Dyna in the shop for days like these !!

As opposed to having a gear indicator?
It's a "No Charge" option that comes stock on every Harley.
