i just got done installing a set of Polk MM 6501 components in my street glide.
i previously had a set of J&M 5.25 hi performance speakers
and a 200 watt amp..
well those were just not cutting it.
my buddy had installed the J&M 7.25 rokkers and 250 watt amp in his street glide and the sound was ok, but i was looking for more.
i have found it!
the Polks deliver crystal clear highs and great bass for being in the fairing
i mounted the tweeters in the top gauge holes, i eliminated the volt and air gauges and moved the fuel gauge to the bottom hole.
i have the crossovers mounted on top of my amp, which is just enough clearance
i also installed some foam in the fairing which i think helped a bit as well
i just cant get over how great these speakers sound.
i had my buddy (the one who has the J&M rokker setup) over and he was blown away at the sound..
if your looking for a quality setup definately take a look at the polk mm 6501 components. they are 2.7 ohm and you can find them for around $180
I am looking to upgrade from my 7.25 j&m's. I was happy but want more. You and others have sold me on these. My only question is, can I use the grills and mount the tweeters if I wanted? Can wait to see the pics as well.
MOMO'S ROCK. polk has done well on these speakers. i've been running momo's in my truck for 6 years, and still sound as good as day 1. feed them good clean power. enjoy....steve
My only concern was squashed when I looked at the Polk site and found a marine grade version speaker for the same dollar.
And Alpine is now making marine grade head units! I'm so there!
