I have a Roadking with a detachable Tourpak, detachable fairing with radio, cd, and mp3 player and just bought a new bike...a 2007 Ultra classic. The wife liked the Roadking so much we traded her Softail in on the Ultra. Too bad the Roadking is so darn much faster.
Buy whatever suits your needs. I put a short smoked windscreen on the Roadking and now have a StreetGlide and an Ultra for traveling.
I was just going to say the same thing , see too many guys buy the standard , and spend thousands for add ons , spend the few bucks and get the classic , you wont be sorry.

You get alot more with a classic, chrome and black motor , radio, speakers, radio grip controlls extra gagues, tourpack, backrest, pin striping, I just ordered a tourpak for my roadglide, with all the detach and backrest stuff, around a grand just for that. better to buy a classisc and take off than a standard and add on.
Not to sound like a broken record, but I was at the same spot in the road. To me the Classic is the best bang for the buck. The tour pak is off in minutes for a marginal cost ($54)...not sure I would need an Ultra for the extra $2400
I agree with the majority on this thread. Go with the Classic and take off what you don't want. The black engine alone makes a big difference. I bought a SG that is slowly turning into a classic and it's costing me dollars. I already added the passing lamps and there is more to come. Take everyones advice and get the classic.
