Went in to the dealer just to look, I saw some ultra Classics for $35K, I about pee'd myself.
my 02 was half that price.
I don't know about all you folks, I don't have trouble paying bills, but man! what a sticker shock!
In addition to the great info from other posters, you may have a better chance when the 2012 hit the floor the end of July. They will be pushing to get the 2011's off the floor.
I did this last year and it worked out well. Good Luck!
Just another little cryptic note that I have left a few times in some threads. Some (one in particular) will hit the floor this week. The OP may see his next week. So, if in the market for one, just wait a few more days.
I went to go trade in my 2009 Nightster last month. Both dealers in Las Vegas wouldon't support the "Ride for Free" program on it. One dealer had the bike I wanted, the 2011 Candy Green. But they had just put on about $4k worth of parts that I neither wanted nor was going to pay for. They refused to take them off unless I payed labor to remove them. **** THAT! I called up to Carson City, NV Harley Davidson and everything was done over the phone. They got it back to a stock 96" bike with cruise and security for UNDER MSRP. Plus they honored the "Ride for Free" program, and since I didn't even pay MSRP for the bike when I bought it, it was essentially like they payed me $2,500 for a down payment on the bike. Just gotta shop around man.
If you go to CycleBuy.com for $20 you can find the dealer's invoice prices. Bike, paint choices and options are marked up 30%. Knowing that helped me negotiate a good price on a '10 FLHX. I also waited for mid-winter to start the talks. Again, supply and demand.
