I may try to install a 4-point docking system myself, which means I'll need to remove several fender extension bolts, then re-torque to 17 foot-pounds. Will the 3/8-inch drive sockets still work here?
it will work just fine .you really dont have to remove that many bolts its a real easy job that harley would otherwise charge you $85.00. you wont have any problems.
I have the HD Windsplitter, a 6 1/2 in Klockwerks, and a Cee Baileys SSC, as well as the standard screen. The Klock Werks is the most efficient by far. Less buffeting and less wind noise, especially above 110 kph. Also makes the bike feel more stabil at that speed due to the fact that it provides more down force. I am only 5ft 6 ins, So I'm sure you'll need a Klockwerks 8 1/2 in.
Another happy Klock Werks owner - have the 8.5" & it works fantastic (5'11" w/34" inseam). Routes wind over head & my t-bags 3-pouch fits perfectly underneath.
Go to the KlockWerks site, they are forum sponsors, go to Dealer Locator on the top line, and pick your state and a list of dealers will display.
Anyone on this list will install a demo shield for you to take on a ride to decide if it will work for you. If you don't like it, there's no obligation to buy.
I've lost count of how many wind shields I've purchased and discarded. I finally got it right with the 6.5 KW shield. I like it so much, I have another one sitting in box, just incase they ever stop making them. For me, its perfect.
