I have a Windsplitter, but don't have it on the bike anymore. I replaced it with an 8 inch Long Ride Shields Ultra flip up in dark smoked. It knocks the wind off me real good and also covers more of my face for the errant june bug. The Windsplitter worked great but just was not quite tall enough, left too much of my face exposed for me to feel comfortable. Although it did pretty much keep me bug free and had only minor buffeting.
Remember though, the Windsplitter may be advertised as a 7 inch, but it actually only stands up about 5.5 inches. It lays back so much that the height is not much above the stock SG shield.
I replaced my OE windshield with a klockworks 6.5", at 6'1", it was just a little too short for me. I swapped it out for the 8.5" in dark smoke and I LOVE it! I'm sure you will find it to be a invaluable addition to your ride. Good luck!
At 5'8", the WS does the job for me and it looks good. I am sure the KW 6.5" would work good too. I just wouldn't go any higher, but that's just my preference.
Cee Baileys got a variet of windshields. If you go to www.ceebaileys.com you can check some out with the appropriate size windshield to your height. hope it helps! and cee baileys just recently reduced their prices =)
I'm 6'3'' and have a 10'' Freedom Shield. Works great for me. However, I put an H-D Brawler solo seat on and it moved me down and back, so I thought I'd try a Windsplitter. I went to the local H-D shop and they let me try the Windsplitter. Even with the low profile Brawler seat, the Windsplitter didn't quite have the protection I was looking for - too much wind buffeting for an 8 hour day at 65-70 MPH. So I took it back and said, thanks, but no sale (even though I love the look of it).
I'm 6' and have a C@C seat that puts me down and back a couple inches. Had a Windvest 6" and it pushed the wind to the top of my helmet and had some buffeting. Found a WS on ebay for $50... Like the look better but there is not much difference from the Windvest. I'm sure a 8.5" KW would be better but I like the looks of the Wind Splitter and don't mind the bit of buffeting.
I just went from a 6.5 up to a 8.5 KW today & it made a huge difference for me. My biggest issue was buffeting & the 8.5 has nearly fixed it! I'm 5'8" & 30" inseam on a C&C that drops me down a little.
have the HD wind splitter on a 2011 RG, think it's about 9" tall. Love it over the stock 4" shield but the rubber gasket on the bottom was designed but a 2 year old kid---horrible design and keeps dropping down at the inside upward curve--love the shield but hate the gasket---will silicone it next.
yep just got the harley 10 inch wind splitter and couldn't be happier - my head is still above the shield but I get no wind buffet (I'm 5 8) . . . . some have complaint about the distortion in the windshield view, but this does not cause me an issue. I've got rid of the bagger head wobble thing too and the ride is quieter from a wind perspective. As an added bonus I can hear my radar detector much better (as well as the stereo) - best thing I've bought for the bike yet (2011 streetglide)
