The dealer I bought my bike from wants to charge me $325 for the 1000 mile service on my bike. Does this seem like alot? What all is involved with doing this? How much have you paided for this service?
They try and make you think its mandatory to keep to warranty legit but thats false and all they really do if anything is change the oil and sometimes they dont even do that according to a buddy that worked in the service department at a stealership
There are a lot of things to check (in my experience most things are still fine at the 1k service but should still be checked) but nothing to difficult. Buy a service manual and it will show you everything you need to do and how to do it.
Some dealers do everything you are suppose to but a lot will just change the fluids.
When I took mine last year I questioned the cost , and the servive mgr sugested just change the fluids that was about $60 . Kinda makes you wonder. Dont get me wrong you will notice the differance with a 10k servive .
$325 sounds about right. The majority of that is going to be for the labor. Probably around $70.00 total for the parts and fluids if you go with a synth oil.
I took my bike to my dealer and paid $358 for the service. I was told that they check it from vavle stem to valve stem...I was even shown a checklist that was easily a full page long....however when I picked it up and paid for the service....there was not one single item checked off on the list....of course the service manager insisted that the work was done and that the tech simply forgot to check off the items. I was not happy and probably won't take my back for anything other than warranty work!!!

Just had my 2011 RKC done at Earl Smalls in Smyrna, GA and that's about typical for these parts.
