Calling all shade tree Mechanic's
A good friend has a 04 ultra Classic it has a mostly stock 88" twin cam with 203 cams, power comander, tru dual pipes, and big air kit. All summer he has been fighting at times the motor stumbling (missing at low rpm) smoking black out exhausts. This problem comes and goes. We have installed new pickup in fuel tank, new intake gaskets, a different PC. If any body has a idea were running out of ideas.

When the problems get tough it is often worthwhile finding a local indy who has all the diagnostic stuff and a pile of experience. Most important, he can see and touch the bike in front of him! Could be the electronics are in need of retuning, or a sensor somewhere has gone down, but that should be easier to diagnose in person.

Mine has been doing something similar. Disconnected the PCIII and stumble gone. Buddy's RK had same problem and replaced PCIII with the new Cobra FI2000R Autotune and his problem is cured. I'm going to have one installed on my bike as well.

My first guess would be eng.temp sensor...When they go bad they will usually add more fuel to the mix as they are telling the ecm that the engine is cold...Usually stumps a lot of people as it won't set a code.
