I just checked the price....$400.00!!! WTF? Think I'll stick with my $25.00 ram mount and the aux jack...Wow, wasn't expecting that! For that price it should come with a 64 gig touch!

Not only that but there's the harness for inside the fairing you have to buy. If you want it in the saddlebag you have to buy another harness for that. If you want the pocket for in the saddlebag that's extra as well. This is one set-up where the hidden charges really add up. $400 is just the start.

I have had one since they were released and love mine, I would actually buy another without hesitation, but I like my music also. I don't use the extension cable or the saddlebag pouch, which one day I may decide to purchase, but have been happy with the way mine is for over a year. Yes, even with a discount $330 is a bit pricey for the kit, but it is nice, and hey, some people spend that almost every time they walk into a dealership.

I can fit lots of MP3's on a $0.50 CD.
Sounds like a lot of money.
And why do you need the video and handlebar controls if you just set it to shuffle?
A properly burned MP3 CD shows the artist, song title and you can randomize the mix and use the handlebar controls to go to another song.

Just finished installing mine , it was pricey no doubt, but it is really nice having everything at your finger tips , i did go ahead and get the extension & lid pouch to install the IPOD in the saddle bag, everything is neatly tucked away about $425.00 into it
But happy. Had the Ram mount this is sooo much nicer

because with a cd you get about 150 songs. with a 16gb ipod, i am currently at 1500 songs with more than 1/3 free space remaining. and yes, i just set it to shuffle, but with the handlebar controls, i can skip a song if i feel like it. yes, i could do that with a cd as well. just a much bigger mix of music and i don't have to stop somewhere and change discs.....

sometimes i feel like listening to a certain band, with the ipod controller, i can set it for artist, and hear all songs by that artist. with a cd, i would either have to make sure that i burnt all songs by that artist on one disc, which would then make for a small mix of music, or i would have to do a lot of disc changing. either way, the way my luck goes, i would have just left a gas/rest stop, when i would decide to listen to some social d and it would not be on the disc currently in the changer......

not saying you're wrong for not having it, but i am saying that i'm not wrong for having it either.

So more dumb questions, So will an ipod work without this expensive interface?
Doesn't an ipod have it's own volume control that would work in conjunction with the HK stereo? Thanks

Yes it will, you just plug it into the aux jack. I plug mine in, hit shuffle, then either put the ipod in the right front lower, or if I'm taking a longer trip, i'll put it in my ram mount on the bars...I usually adjust the volume on the ipod so it's nearly maxed out, then just use the HK volume control from there. YMMV...

Default Update on ipod module

Hey Guys,

Was at my local HD dealership Tue. Just happened to run into the regional rep and brought up my problem Bottom line, HD knows there is a problem with the NIM (Navigation Interface Module). This is where the problem is. He did say he honestly didn't know what HD was doing to correct the problem. I installed both the NIM and the Ipod module to allow me to put the Ipod in my right saddle bag with the carrying case. The CVO comes with this standard. I am on a 2011 Ultra Limited. I sent a detailed problem sheet to HD dealer who is forwarding to HD in WI. I will report back when I get more info.
