Take some time and look for a police model. You'll save 3K to 6K over a comparable civilian model.

Buy what fits in your budget. You can "make it yours" anyway you want. You can always make it a 103" (or bigger) if you want. You can replace bearings while they are in there. You can always do swingarm and motor mount upgrades to improve handling. Thats the nice thing about a H-D over any other brands, customization is limtied only by your imagination and wallet!

I can't speak to the RK but my EG Limited yielded me 41.5 mpg last weekend when I rode 160-170 miles on Sunday. Of course that was with a Stage 1 dyno tuned bike.....

You can find a great deal on older Road Kings....I am gonna tell you that i was gonna pull the trigger 4 weeks ago to trade my 07...i test drove a 2010 and ??? really not that much differences to me...Many people ride olrder bikes...on an 02 for example you can upgrade the cam chain tensionners and you will be good for thousands of miles....
Road king is a great platform for you to tinker with comfort upgrades....I also like the painted bags better than the leather...

Dont get to hung up on how new the bike is, sure the newer bikes are smoother, tighter etc etc, but forget about year, and ride what fits. Its a Harley and its yours, doesnt get much better than that does it??

I have a 2008 Ultra, 96", 6 speed. I also have a 2006 Road King Classic, 88" and 5 speed. I would never part with my King. I could be talked out of my '08. Just my $0.02.
