my 2010 ultra had a little fire today. i was at a stop light and smelled burning wire and looked down and said shoot its me! brake light switch down by the transmission was smoking and then it the wires went up in flames. lucky i was close to the dealer. replaced the switch and spliced in to the old wires which i am a little concerned about (wires got very hot and concerned about weather seal.
Holy s**t! That could have been a very painful experience for you. Glad you were right there and realized it quickly enough. Is your splicing just a temporary thing I hope? This is how the dealer fixed it?
i noticed that myself although i haven't had it catch fire, it sets right next to the cat which has to be blazen hot, was thinking on putting some wrap around the switch maybe that will keep the heat down, when i first got it the wires were only like a 1/4 inch from the CAT, so i pushed them in to get them away from the CAT but now i believe i'm going to get some exhaust wrap and put it around the switch. i see your from st.louis also, who did the splice job??
