don't get that far south to gateway, glad ya didn't burst into flames, well the exhaust wrap is a no go, not enough room to do the wrap right, but i did see were the inspection sticker plate might do the trick, there's a bolt that holds the brake switch on and i think the plate should hook up there and if you swing it up it should cover the wires that aren't protected. and the plain Jane one is 10 bucks, i did some measuring and it looks like it will work. anything to keep the heat back from those wires is a plus. if ya come up with something let me know thanks

why would anyone wear fringed pants? why does your bike have a cat? everyone knows to replace the cat...even if you leave everything else stock. seems like "normal wear" to me. chit happens-get over it.

Mine was seeping brake fluid through the switch and the brake fluid started to smoke when I noticed mine. Dealer changed under warranty and no other issues yet.

I can't imagine a direct short like that wouldn't blow the 15A fuse that protects the lighting circuit way before it caught on fire.

Maybe it did and the brake fluid seeping is what caught fire like mine. I only noticed because of the smell, and since I ride mostly at night I realized my brake light was not lighting up with the rear brake.
