Have any of you used any of those "oil fog" products to spray inside the plug holes?
Is it better then just a squirt of oil or does either have to be done?
Easier said than done! I love these guys who live down south and think that people up north can just bundle up and go for a ride any time they want. You have obviously never seen temperatures of -40 with over 150 inches of snow anually, 4 inches of solid ice on the roads and 200 tons of salt dumped on top of it all. Oh yea, and the sign says welcome to Western NY. I hope to someday join you riders down south or out west but for now we must WINTERIZE.....................BG
Sorry yogibear I got off the subject. I have used both fogging oil and just regular motor oil in my cylinders for the 4 months it gets stored. I feel it keeps the cylinder walls from getting any surface rust with the temperature and humidity changes inside the garage................BG
Wash, wax, change oil, fill with gas, cover it up and wait for spring.
I would avoid the filling with gas part. I have an old bike with a new factory tank on it. Had it full of Amoco Ultimate with Stabil and left it that way for a couple of years. Where the gas had evaporated it allowed condensation to form on the inside of the tank and it completely rusted through.
Wash, wax, polish.
Stabil in fuel tank, run for a few minutes, then fill to the top with fuel.
Change engine oil and filter.
Change transmission and primary fluids. (YMMV)
Make sure air pressure is up to snuff.
Pull plugs, spray fogging oil inside cylinders. You may jack the bike up, put it in 5th gear, turn tire to move pistons up and down as you do this.
Pull air cleaner, clean it and reinstall.
Hook up battery tender.
Cover with breathable cover (mine's cotton).
Cry.
I park my bike on a rubber mat, in an attached garage, so I don't worry about jacking it up to get the weight off the tires.
