The cruise control on my '09 Ultra Classic will not engage. The indicator light on the face of the speedometer comes on but the cruise will not engage.
Does anyone have access to a Cruise Control Diagnostics and Codes for an '09? I can't find it in the service manual. This one does not work on my scoot.
Does the speed sensor down by the oil dip stick have anything to do with the cruise working?

My cruise control stopped working the other day, The light comes on but no cruise.
I took it to the dealer since it is under warranty and they said it is the cruise control sensor, They are ordering it in since they did not have one.

I wonder where the cruise control sensor is located. I also wonder if that's the same thing as the speed sensor.
After reading some of the posts on cruise control issue I decided to go out and check to see if my brake light was on and it was. Now I know why the cruise would not set. I unplugged one of the wires on the rear brake light switch and now the brake light is not on and only the front brake lever will activate the brake light.
I haven’t ridden the scoot to see if the cruise will set now but is it alright to assume the rear brake light switch is bad? I don't see any adjustment on the rear brake light switch.

Just a suggestion... My troubles started the same way you described. The brake light switch for the front brakes is bad. Brake light was always on. Cancels my cruise control. Took it to harley, they decided it did not need replaced, sprayed it with something that was supposed to fix the problem with the switch. On the way home I still got the problem... LOL Took a short bungee to hold the brake lever in its outer most position. No more cruise control problem
shortride I see that you have already found your problem but here is some info anyway.
The procedure for checking the cruise is in the electrical service manual.
Kill switch in run position
Hold cruise to set position
Turn on ignition
Cruise light on speedometer should be green
Release set on cruise light should be red
If it stays green you have a switch problem or pinched wire
if it is red make the other switches one at a time
all the following should turn the light green
set
resume
front brake
rear brake
clutch
throttle roll forward
you found the problem and replacing the switch aint a problem....if you can get a wrench on it without removing the exhaust , it will be a five minute job

Just when I thought I had found the problem. I got curious this morning and plugged the wires back up to the rear brake light switch and the brake light didn't come on nor would it work with the rear brake pedal. The bulb is still good because the front brake lever still turns the brake light on.
Did the rear brake light switch fail all together? Do the rear brake light switch wires have a polarity?
