security sys. light?

security sys. light?
I gassed up my `09 RG and reset the trip meter. I noticed a red key on the speedo which I`ve never noticed before. It doesn`t have the security system option. The light went out and I haven`t noticed it since. What`s up with that?

Doesn't matter if you have security or not. It will light up then should go out. Now if it does not go out, then that is an indication your bike threw a code. In my experience the key light codes are associated with the bikes tsm, or if you had security, the tssm

My key light stayed on when I had an intermittent starting issue. Was the off switch in the right grip that was pinched and shorting out. They dealers could not pull a code so it was hunt and peck until they found the problem.
