Default Harley pricing

Does anyone know or are you willing to share what the stealer markup is on their trinkets?
I assume harley generates some kickin revenue on the liscensing of their name, plus $$$ on the item, and then the stealer needs a cut.

I was up to one of the local dealers a few days ago, by myself so I could "browse" at my leisure.
They have some pretty slick ****, but, even simple little bar and shield stick on plaquards were 13.95 ea.
I am an MVP member so I get 11% off, but still, c'mon, $25 bucks for two little 2" in diameter plastic dongles.......I'l pass......
I bought relays for my Dyna when I had it for $6.00 each (which I couldn't have gotten any cheaper through an electronic distributor) which shocked me, but, anything cosmetic is insanely priced.

Its sad, for I would have a hayday buying stuff to make my bike "mine" if it weren't for their damn prices. It will happen eventually, but it would be cool to be able to transform it all at once.

Sorry for the rant, I am just curious if anyone in the know would be willing to share percentages with the rest of us, so I can go puke and then move on.....
Thanks

most of them make 2%...buy it for 1% and sell it for 3%--excuse me that would be 200%!! seriously, a dealer has a lot of overhead-mortgage, taxes, insurance, advertising, managers, and the list goes on and on. retail business of any type is tough to make a profit. their prices are high because their costs are high. most dealers are not stealers-just businessmen with a large investment trying to make a profit and stay in business.

..look..owning a Harley is like owning a boat..you think it costs a lot to buy it...then you go to the Marine store and find out what a REAL screwing is..need a stainless steel screw?..go to Home Depot and the screw is $.89..go to the Marine store..and the same screw is $4.95... HD's markup on parts and accessories is probably 30-40%..I know from my work that body shops for instance usually get a 25% discount on parts from their vendors...so you know that the dealership is STILL making a profit even after reducing the price that much..

In motorclothes, if it is a "Factory" Harley shirt, it's marked up 100%. If it's a "dealer" shirt, then it's 40%. Parts are at least 40%. I know when I buy I pay more. My girlfriend works their and she gets a employee discount which equals about 40%.

Living on the St Croix / Mississippi rivers we spent 10 years with boats while the kids were young camping, etc.... and all I recall of that was the lack of etiquette people have. Filling a 100 gallon fuel tank, or replacing Teak seems to pale in comparison to me. It's been 10 -15 years ago so maybe its just me, but I didn't mind spending x amount of money for add ons on a $50,000 toy.

I just shake my head at the thought of spending a 3rd or 1/2 of what I gave for the bike to accessorize it.
