King in the City
We took it out for a test ride about three weeks ago. At the time, it had no backrest on it so she had to hang on to me for dear life and I was nervous about giving it the beans - I had this image of her flying off the back. So we took out a Street Glide as well because that had a backrest and I felt much more confident about some more spirited acceleration. Boy, what magnificent rides the 'Glides are!
I'm anticipating a lot of very happy miles...
We picked up our new Road King this weekend. What a bike!
We've already taken our first ride out into the wilds of England - something we've not been able to do before now. The OL is delighted with the level of comfort. She doesn't need the back support belt she used to have to ride with and says she feels safe and comfortable on the Sundowner.
The bike is a 2011 and was in the dealer's demo fleet, so it only had about 1300 miles on it when we picked it up. It already has another 200 on it since Saturday! Riding it to work this morning was a dream - I don't think I'll have any trouble riding around London on this, although it obviously isn't as nippy as a Vespa.
The Sundowner is gloriously comfortable for me with the stock bars and the Monster Ovals make a fabulous sound. They sound a bit deafening compared to my scooter, but I'm getting used to them very quickly. And I don't know if this is the way they are stock, but with Stage 1 done, it goes like a scalded cat!
I'm already seeing bits of chrome that will need to be added here and there...
