Default Wide Glide vs. Street Glide

Hi guys, was hoping to get some opinions. I'm a fairly new rider and due to work/family I ride back and fourth to work and around town(no trips). i bought a 2010 wide glide last year and I love it but I need something for a little storage. problem is I like how it looks now and don't want to put bags on it. I ve been thinking about trading/selling it for a 2012 street glide. my question is for my purposes would the street glide be a good fit or am I better off with the wide glide. thanks.

Seems like you would be spending a lot of money for storage. I say put saddlebags on your wide glide. Get ones that are easy to remove. That being said I love taking my bike around town as well as the occasional long trip. With the bags, I have excuses to take off and go to the store when we need milk or beer

Having owned both and having to choose between to two I would go with the Street Glide
More storage
More comfortable
And a radio for some tunes and traffic reports on the commute to work.

why not get a back rest that you can strap a T-bag too? Easy on/off, and will make it more comfortable for your "family" to ride with you once you start moving beyond the city limits. I dont do music, good pipes are therapeutic enough!

I'd get a detach luggage rack and bag for your WideGlide. That way you can strip it down when you don't need the extra storage. Plus, that looks alot better than saddlebags on a WideGlide (just my opinion, of course.)

I was in the same spot as you...I had a 2010 wide glide, loved it great bike. Loved the way it looked but didn't want to mess up the looks by adding a windshield bags and whatever else. No disrespect to the guys who have added this stuff to their wide glide but imo the wide glide looks best without all that stuff. After a year and a half I got sick of the wind beating me up with no windshield...no easy way to carry stuff like rain suite, so I just took the plunge and traded it off for a 2011 street glide with 103, abs and cruise. I have 1,800 miles on it so far and love it. I rarely think about my wide glide. I use the street glide as a daily commuter with an occasional long trip and it does a great job at both. The only way I would go back to the wide glide is if I hit the lotto and can afford both. Oh and if you do any 2 up riding, no comparison, touring bikes are made for this. Again this is just my opinion...but for me hands down...street glides all the way. You might also want to look at the road glide...buddy of mine just bought one and it’s a pretty nice ride...the fairing is starting to grow on me.
Good luck...remember black street glides are the fastest.

Don't blow a lot of money when you don't have too.

+1. Basically same story for me...except EG. Love mine, wouldn't go back unless I could have both.

The SG is a good around town bike as well as a good road trip bike. It's just plain fun as hell.

With that said, it sounds like it may be more bike than you want or need. I say take one for a spin and find out for yourself.

I really appreciate all the input guys. All good points but I keep coming back to the SG. The wife will probably kick me out but I think that's the way I'm gonna go. Thanks
