That guy was full of helpful info but tonight I was talking to the owner. I said I had specific concerns based on info I had received from this forum and his response was he had no time or desire to discuss issues raised on a forum! When I got specific about the rattling in the new 96" rubber engine his response was that Harley has built quality bikes for many years. Regarding the red hot exhaust issue he said basically, big deal!

This dealer has no test bikes so I asked if I decided to buy this bike could I have this specific bike prepped and have the sale based on a satisfactory ride. NO WAY!

My biggest concern is that with this attitude I'd hate to buy a bike from him and then have a problem with it. I suspect life would be real miserable. I guess I'll try another dealer and see if my experience is any better.
what dealer is this? i am in Ontario and have dealt with 3 dealers and all have been awesome?

since I haven't owned a Yamaha street, I can't explain the difference in the ride or handling. I have owned metrics back years ago and the difference in the ride from my UC to the Goldwing is a LOT different...even though I never had a problem with the goldwing, it was not as comfortable as the UC. But since I was a kid, I always wanted a Harley, not just a Harley but an Electra Glide...Got mine in June of last year. I couldn't see paying 20K for a new one so I opted for a used one. It has been GREAT...........hard to keep the smile off of my face; except for the Friggin snow and cold weather......come on spring.....

Unfortunately it's starting to be winter here and test rides are done for the year.

I have a few questions and would appreciate your advice.

1) My RS has very slight vibration at 60mph. Does the UC have the same or is it smooth?
2) I've heard the UC has excess heat issues from the motor. Is this true?
3) I've heard the HK stereo is not all that good. Your comments would be appreciated.
4) How is the slow speed handling?
5) What do you like most about the UC?
6) What do you like the least about the UC?

Thanks for your help.....
1. I'm new to harley and the vibration at idle or stop was very easy toget over. Nver had a vibration issue aat 60-70-80-90 or 100. Although I did find it hard to get to 100 after 85. it got there but not as quick as I would liked. When your passing a semi on the inter you do not want to be beside it all that much, who knows wht will come flying out form under neath. but the ride is exteremly tight.
2. With air, headers and slips change no heat issue, I have not made all these changes yet, but I did not think the heat was that bad.
3. The HK stereo is ok, I changed out the speakers and added four 8 in total, with an amp. HOG POD, HOG PRO SPEAKERS and HOG AMP. plenty loud, I like it louder, so I might change them out to Hawg wired, but next year, got other mods to do.
4. Low speed handling is a dream compared to other bikes. I had 88 GL 1500, low speed sucked, GL1800 better but not good. my FLHTK is awesome at low speed and sportbike like (LIKE!) compare to all others, One of the best handing bikes I have ever had.
5. I like how ridgid it feels. the bike is a true pleasure to ride. IT is not as quick as I would have liked it to be, at 85MPH it seems to drag bit, but i have not completed all the mods yet to make it run like a raped ape. From what I have heard on this site. once the stage 1 mods: Air, headers and Slips, it will blow doors on the GL 1800 I had.
6. The least thing I like is the fact that I have to add air, headers and slips, I mean... I like the fact that I can make the bike my own with these mods, but for 26,000 and for a 103 inch or 1700cc bike, it is not as quick as you want it to be right out of the gate. You have to really pay attention to the break in period and after break there is no real difference in top end speed. Seems like when you hit 85, that is about it. Again, I was told that will change with mods, but why should I have to change anything. Now it is a touring bike and if I wanted speed why buy a touring bike, I guess I just expceted to be faster.
Am I happy, you bet'cha!!! the bike looks great, sounds great and come this june, when I return home it will run GREAT. I love the HD styling and I will nver go back to Honda.

All bikes have their + and - side. If I had to do it again I would buy this BIKE in Solid Black, only becuase I love black bikes, the 2010 103 did not come in solid balck. I got the Blue and black. The color has grown me alot and I love it, but black on any bike is just awesome.

1. Mine is very smooth - no vibration
2. I haven't experienced any heat issues so far but I haven't ridden in yet in very high temperatures yet. I will be removing the cat soon and doing a remap of some sort with a different air filter to make it run cooler.
3. The 80 watt HK system is decent and sounds good. Best in the world? no, but plenty good enough for me.
4. The UC is amazingly nimble for its weight and handles very well at slow speeds.
5. I like the creature comforts, cruise control, six speed transmission, CB and storage space with the side bags and tour pack. The intercom system is very nice as well for long trips. This 96 ci engine is smooth as silk at highway speeds and the suspension is superb.
6. Didn't come with center stand, or locking glove boxes (has them now though). Don't like the idea of a catalytic converter but we have the EPA to thank for that. Also for a bike this expensive I would have thought Harley could have thrown in a tool kit. First bike I ever owned that didn't come with one. All in all, I like this bike very much. It does everything I want it to do.

I was new to Harley this year as well. The biggest thing is you do not want to stop riding. My wife loves the seat.
Yes there are things you have to get used too but that is with any bike.
Ride it and enjoy.

I’m new to this forum, still trying to figure out how to post a photo of my Ultra, realize this is an older thread but may as well put in my 2 cents worth. In 1959, I owned a Harley KHK, it lasted about a year, in 1960 I owned a ’74 Harley with a suicide clutch, hand shift, entire front cylinder blew off one day, had to push it five miles to the next town. After that I’ve had a mixture of Hondas, BMW’s, Yamaha’s, etc but always missed the Harley sound. My last two bikes were Goldwing’s but about as exciting to ride as driving an Accord….so I sold my last Goldwing and bought a used 2006 Ultra (I heard they are more reliable now). So far, so good. I love this Ultra…it is not as powerful or as smooth as the Goldwing but now, hopefully, with the Kerker pipes and Harley sound, other nearby vehicles will be aware of my presence, an obvious enhanced safety benefit…besides, this Ultra puts a smile on my face, as well! I think the Harley is more comfortable, seems like I’m sitting in it as opposed to the Goldwing where I felt as if I was sitting on it.
