whats the difference - screaming eagle 103 heads vs regular 96 heads?
I know you can use your regular 96 heads if you do a 103 upgrade. but I also know there are screaming eagle 103 heads that have fancy 103 logo's on the side of them. do these screaming eagle 103 heads have any functional difference in terms of things like polished ports, large valves, spring differences for cams beyond 255's, machine work to change the compression ratio's, etc. does anyone have a part number for them? thanks for any info.
waiting on the part numbers from the seller.

Here is the answer very simple, the only difference is the compression release valve. The valves are the same size the springs are the same only difference is the 103 has come with electronic compression release. Your bike will have part of the wiring needed to use the electronic compression release. Mine does, it is a 2009 Electra glide. Yours may or may not. You need to check with your dealer. The problem I see is you also have to buy another wiring harness to go along with the wiring harness you got which will add to the cost of your rebuild.
Most 103 kits come with 10.1 compression pistons or 10.5.
I have decided to go with the manual compression release rather than electronic. I have used them before they work great. You have to remember to do it, but there will never be any electrical problems with them.
Changing and 96 in. engine over to a 103 in. is definitely going to be an advantage. I think we all realize that the 96 in. Harley-Davidson motor is a dog. You can cam them up and they will run okay at a higher rpm. But for most of us torque is where it's at.
My 2009 ultra glide classic with a 96 "engine, already has a TTS tuner, 255 SE cam, thunder headers, screaming Eagle air cleaner and adjustable pushrods. I'm going to include a list of parts other than these you would need to build a 103.
I hope this information helps you out.

changing my 96 to anything bigger it would have to be a 103 or a 110 and even with a 110 you're talking a lot of work. And a lot of expense.
Thank you for your input.
