Speedometer stopped working
I have a 1999 FLHTC non electric (cable type) speedometer that stopped working. I took the front of the batwing off and checked the end of the cabe which does not look like it is broken. I raised the front wheel on the jack to see if the cable would turn when I spin the front wheel, nothing. One thing that also happened at the same time, the directional lights do not turn off on their own.
Anyone have any ideas? Thought it may be a bad cable, but with the directional lights working but not shutting off, I thougt maybe might be an electrical issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

......its the other end that's broken.... the wheel end has a "finger" that goes into a slot that turns when the when turns.. that's what usually breaks.. You will also notice that your AVC on the radio doesn't work either.. and yes... you will have to drop the front wheel to replace it since it goes on the front axle
...and.. the cancelling of the turn signals relies on the speedometer to cancel them..

My not be JUST the cable. Could be the drive unit mounted to the front axle could have worn out, or seized and busted up. You should be able to disconnect the cable at the drive unit and see if the mechanisms are working to turn the cable.
I had a cable bind up and took out both the front wheel drive unit and the worn cable. Made some awful noise for about 30 miles and then the speedo stopped while on a summer ride last year.
