Thanks for posting. Had a look at your other photos as well. I see you got away from the main highway and off into the bay and inlets. You have to do that to really see the island. I spent 21 years there and my wife is from Mt. Pearl. There's no other place in North America like it - geography is probably closer to Ireland and Scotland than the rest of Canada. I'm retired now and my wife retires next year. We're planning on spending a month traveling the "Rock" next summer.
those little off the main road fishing communities ect is where i found to most hospitality and people loved to talk and tell you about their lives. the one little bay i stopped at, i ended up spending 2 hours talking with a few gentleman about bikes and the way of life over there. But there was some little towns where i stopped for gas, i couldn't understand what they where saying, accents where so heavy.
Could you share more on your ride around the island? I'm planning a trip there this July going into port aux basques then doing the exact run you did around the island. How long did this trip around the island take or any other details would be appreciated

I also did this trip in 2008. You can check out my trip site below and look at the pics. I did not write a blog on the trip. If you have any questions, just let me know. We spent 4 days on the ROCK. Arrived at Port aux Basques and came back from Argentia. St. John's and Cape Spear were neat places. Also the village of Twillingate (Iceberg capital of the world!!). It was cold near the water and WET most everywhere!! Take heated gear and that was in July!!
Sounds like a sweet touring expedition that you will never forget. Thanks for the pics.
I know that when you go with huge wheels on a Truck/SUV, such as a 22" or 24" wheel, you loose a little cushion in your ride. Is this the same for baggers? In other words, when you first switched from the factory 17"/18" front wheel to the 26" wheel, did you notice any difference in suspension?
