Do you need to pull off the saddlebags to replace the slipon mufflers? If so how? At work now, does the owner's manual explain how to remove the bags on a 2011 Ultra Classic?
Well there is a couple of quick disconnect pins in each bag. Twist and pull and they are out. Easier to take them off to work on the bike as you need access to the mounting bolts on top of the rear muffler.
You dont have to, but it will make the job a lot easier. Open the bags and turn the studs counter clockwise and pull out. Then remove the bag
When removing saddle bag locking pins..Before turning,PUSH Locking Pins IN. This will take the weight off pins as they have a small groove that holds them in place. After you get them off take a look at them close and you will see what i meen. Good Luck....

Also, look where the pins are connected as you unscrew them. Very simple once you see what's going on.
Slip-ons are simple as well. Just make sure to have the exhaust clamp in the right position before you slip on the new pipe.

Short answer: yes.
I suggest you pick up a service manual for your bike, and do as much work as you can yourself.
There are no stupid questions, only stupid newbies. Just kidding, that was mean I know, I'm sorry, couldn't resist. Everybody has a first time, I'm still having them all the time myself.
Yes, you do need to take the bags off, there are two bolts under the bags holding the end of the slipons to the bottom of the bag rail. It is very easy once you do it and see how it is done. When putting the bags back on make sure you put those pins back in correctly, double check and make sure they are tight, you don't want to lose a bag going down the road.
Welcome to the forum, you'll get a lot of good help here.
Once you know how they come off you will kick yourself for asking. it takes less then a minute to pull them both off. IMHO there is no stupid question.

When you remove the bags move them far away from your work area, it is easy to forget where you set them down and trip on them or knock them over and scratch em or worse. Dont ask how I know.
