There's always that 2% that has comprehension issues.........
What i said was that I bought the digital dipstick for the oil level feature, not the temp feature.
Obviously my questionable comprehension is the miscommunication factor here. So you weren't trying to make some kind of point, on this oil temp gauge thread, about an oil temp gauge being useless, and then quoted your temp values. You were just trying to share your experience with the digital dipstick, my misunderstanding. I've never found that pulling and wiping the dipstick is such a daunting task that it would compell me to purchase a $150.00 digital model. Ah well, to each their own.
How do you check the oil temp on the digital dipstick when your riding....I thought you had to push a button for the display to provide any information...

No problemo.......
I never could see spending $38,000 on a jazzed up Electra Glide (CVO), but lots of people do.

Pretty easy........
Just swing your left leg over the saddle, stand on the right side running board, and reach down and push the button. Not a recommended procedure at speeds over 70 MPH, as this manuver could be dangerous.
WTF has a digital dipstick got to do with the fact that Harley finally offers an oil temp gauge for the Titanium gauges on the Limited? Talk about comprehension issues.
Auto meter has a oil temp guage with all the hardware for 47.00...So far even in the high nineties here in texas mine has never gone over 220, and usually runs 210 with amsoil 60 wt.....
Well I guess if I'm going to have a useless guage on my bike I would prefer it to at least give me an idea of how my engine is running and not why I'm sweating bullets. So me thinks I will get me one of the wasted pieces of merchandise.
Newbie to forum here, but for what is it worth, I will relate a quick story on HD Digital Oil gauge. Back a couple years, group of us in Sturgis, on a Sunday morning and a buddy had the HD digital Oil temp gauge on a Dyna and while checking the oil, he pulled it out and heard a distinct tinkle sound when he did. Seem the c-clip that held the bits and pieces of the gauge on the sensor stem inside fell off ! ..leaving the small parts to fall back directly into the oil tank. These were small but large enough to potentially cause some problems down the road. Well he was lucky in that the oil was reasonably fresh and you could even see a couple bits (washers and assorted bits down inside), and with the aid of Mechanics magnet he got the metal pieces out fairly quick , however the plastic washer and pieces presented more of a problem which required the better part of day and some serious patience, luck and a number of friends willing to take turns in the Deadwood parking lot fishing for the darn pieces of a questionable part and quality. Those of us who watched all of this transpire figured we might be ok with the traditional dipstick ! ..just saying ..
