Default Major static since JM install!!!!!!
So I have a 2000 electraglide that i just installed the JM speakers about a month ago. After about 3 weeks i started getting static from the left speaker with ignition on but the radio off. It continues while driving down the road. Any suggestions? Water affect them?

I bet contacting J&M would be a good start....

I will probably take the outer fairing off tomorrow and just make sure for a good connection. Then JM. Just hate sitting on hold to get somebody who has no clue.

I have had great response dealing with J&M. Try contacting J&M John directly.

Which J&M speakers did you install--a 2 ohm or 8 ohm impedance model?

  1. Do you have an aftermarket amplifier?
  2. Are you saying you get static with the radio powered off?
  3. Does the static change with the engine RPM?
  4. Is it a high pitched whine or more of a popping or buzzing sound?

Just stock radio
Static with ignition on but radio off-loud crackling and static
Does not change with engine rpm, very inconsistant
Popping, crackling

Checked speaker connections and all seem good. Checking grounds now. What a pain..

The fact that you are getting noise with the radio switched off tells me you probably have a bad radio.

If the radio is off, it should have nothing to do with the ckt, if he has an amp and it is on when the radio is off, that's where I would start.
