is anyone using the folding rear shift lever on a touring bike. i like to use the heel shifter but on a road trip last week it would of been nice to move my left foot back instead of being trapped by the shifter peg

My dealer said that he rarely sells the folding lever. Says most remove it and use the $15 cap to cover the shaft. I bought the cover figuring it's a cheap way to try to live without the heel shifter and see if I like that. I can always opt for the other lever if I miss heel shifting.
Had the same on a couple of my bikes. Does give you more room to move around your foot. But when mounting any shifter, use a dab of blue lock tite. Those bolts seem to work loose pretty easy and then there goes a 70 buck shifter as my uncle found out.
It's a really nice addition. I don't use it a lot, but when squirming around for that last 50 miles, it's really nice. The HD is far superior to the Kury, which I returned. The Kury folds up which does give you more room, but is also march hard to flip back and forth. The HD can still be used in back position and is easy to flip back and forth with your toe. I have Kury's novelty shift pegs which do not fit the HD folding lever, but it was very easy to create a stud/nut comb which works well. You will be happy. I added floor board extensions, which I also really like, this make the toe shifter too far inboard for me. I swapped the toe shift lever to the outside which places the heal shifter farther inside by about 3/4" which gives you even more clearance when folded at an angle. Cheers, Kevin.
Try the footboard extensions that you can get from Harley Goodies or Soos-Kits. You get a discount for being a forum member and they give you more room. The reviews on here are pretty much 100% positive. I like my heel shifter and the extensions work great.
Yes I love it. I just leave it in the folded out position. Most the time I just use heel shift for neut. but can shift with it in fold out position no problems.
