I jsut ordered brand new 4" Rinehart slip on's for $490 delivered. Rinehart site states, do not adjust ECU when using these (by themself) I will be evetually doin a full stage 1 but wanted to start with these. Think I got a great deal.

Most new head pipes you buy will have bungs for your O2 sensors.
I've had bad luck with the V&H fuel pack but others love them.

Either way, you will not get any real good sound improvement with the cats in the stock head pipe. I have Rinehart 3.5" slip ons on my bike now. Made a slight improvement in sound over the stock mufflers, but not what I wanted. I cut the baffles in half and still no difference. I even started it up with no baffles or end caps in the mufflers and it still sounded about the same.
Slip ons will give you a little better sound for the time being, but slip ons will almost always interchange with whatever head pipe you decide on down the road so you're not really throwing money away.
I'm in the process now of gutting my stock head pipe and removing the cat and I am also planning on a stage 1 A/C and Power Commander V from fuel moto.
check out youtube for sound clips or just check out as many bike nights or rally's that you can get to and wait for someone to have the sound you want, then ask away.

Not true at all. I have a 2011 street glide, and i just changed my stock slip ons to the vance and hines monster round slip ons and then sound is a million times better. My only issue now is the heat on the right side. I still have to do the air cleaner and download which i understand will cool it down a bit. We'll see. If not eventually I will change out my head pipe with the vance and hines power duals, but for now i am extremely happy with the sound of my monster rounds

Put on my Rinhart's , uploaded a you tube video of both stock and Rinehart's. Some nice improvement, but not as much as I have heard on an 2008 EGUC with stock head pipes and high air flow air cleaner. , http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fsfqb4LKivQ

I presume the 2008"s have no cat's in the head pipes? What year did they take the cat's out and then put them back in?

So now I will need new head pipes and air cleaner w/tuner. Thinkin still 2-1-2 or True duals? More local riding for me with occasional road trips.

Don't know what your financial situation is, but it sounds as if you can afford the upgrades. For $300 dollars more you could have bought a full Rinehart TD setup, then you can forget all that B.S. about the cat. You already put the slip-ons on, because my advice to other new owners is to ride the bike for a year, then start making the changes you want. This way, you can see if you have any problems with the stock bike. Get the money together and do a full stage 1 all at one time. You will love it! BTW, I run Rinehart TD 3.5's, S&S Teardrop A/C, and a TTS Mastertune. I freakin love it.

Like others have said, the best way to know what sound you are looking for is to go to other rallies and listen to other bikes. Something will stand out, then you know what you have to do. Ride hard and ride safe! Congrats on the new ride!

I had listened to quite a few sound bytes and some others at a couple bike nites, most have a stage 1 set up, I did prefer the Rinehart sound over some others. I wanted to get the slip-ons in hope that I would get at least an improved sound w/o all the other mods.

Ref true duals, I was told by a couple guys as well as someone at Rinehart about the diff in true dual or 2-1-2, sounded like you would lose some torque with TDs and that if one were doing more touring then local riding then TD's might be preferred. I don't kwo anything about the whole low end, high end torque thing, but I will be doing more local riding than road trips.

When you say for $300 more for a full TD set up, I can still do that (if I go TD) if I want with these slip on's yes? Just need to add the TD head pipes and the rest of the stage 1?

Yeah, check with eastern performance, whole setup was $800 for the rinehart TD's, shipped to my door! Another $250 or so for the S&S A/C, (from S&S themselves) and $450 for the TTS Mastertune, (Ebay is your best bet). Several beers and a few hours in the garage,(I take my time), everything was up and running.

As far as the 2-1 situation, this set-up will give you the best performance, with the TD's being a close 2nd. Me personally, I prefer TD's on touring bikes, because that's why you bought it I presume, to cruise, and the look is tough. HD learned this 2 years ago when they went to 2-1 on the tourers and everyone seemed to panic! lol Anyway, if you have any other q's just shoot me a pm.
