Default ABS, worth it?

Hello,

So I’ve almost decided whether to get a RG or a SG. Now

Now my focus now on if ABS is worth the extra $$.

All of my past bikes (foreign) none of them had ABS. So I’ve never ridden a bike with ABS. So is it really worth the $$?

Thanks,

cbi

ABS is well worth the extra $$$$ search the threads and read the stories. I was wondering the same thing before I bought my bike, now I refuse to own a bike without it.

Yes it is. No doubt in my mind. Don't let the neanderthal naysayers tell you otherwise.

I have zero experience with ABS on a bike. Never owned a new enough Harley. I have not had any issues, however reading the stories on here with some of the experiences others with it have had, I wouldn't hesitate to get it. You never know and it would probably be nice knowing it's there when you may need it.

ABS saved my bacon a time or two. Also will never ride another bike without it.

25+ years of riding with a lot of track experience and I thought ABS was completely unnecessary. Earlier this year I was riding in the rain and hit an oil patch decelerating at an intersection. The front end started to washout and the ABS kicked in and the bike stood right back up and came to a controlled stop. I am now a believer.

You will not even know its there until you need it and when it kicks in it does not negatively affect rider input at all. Hell, motoGP bikes even have traction control now... These times they are a changin......

I do alot of two up riding with my wife. I also own a Goldwing in addition to my Ultra. I read especially on the GW forum about how ABS makes you a lazy riding and how the experienced rider practices emergency stopping.....blah blah blah.......My Ultra weighs over 900 lbs and with my 110lb wife and myself 210lb we go at 320lbs plus gear. It makes no sense to me why anyone would not want the added ability to stop 1300lbs of moving motorcycle. How many times have you heard people say "I locked em up and that was it". I bought it to protect my wife.
Off road, adventure bike.....keep the abs but big touring.....hell yes buy it.
